About
Based in Southsea on the south coast of United Kingdom, Twelve Ten Thirteen was formed in 2020.
Having worked for many years in the print industry, on credit cards to greetings cards and everything in-between, and then product photography - the work was always very clinical and precise.
With Twelve Ten Thirteen there is a new creative freedom. I don’t consider myself a photographer but an image maker, inspired by all forms of visual art.
Bloom Range
I’ve always preferred working in a studio when it comes to photography, simply because of the control you have. But with time on my hands due to the 2020 lockdown and no access to a studio I was forced to brave the elements (well, sunshine).
Plants and flowers have always been a favourite subject, with Southsea seafront and it’s gardens virtually on my doorstep it was the obvious choice. Coming up with a look for the images was a bit more tricky.
The inspiration for the look of the Bloom range was drawn from early photographic images that were created using glass and metal photographic plates that were often hand coloured resulting in a quite painterly look. It was experimenting with depth of field, blurring and the layering and blending of textures that eventually led to the look these images have.
Racers Historique Range
Drawn from an archive of photographs gradually collected over many years, the Racers Historique range pays homage to a bygone era of motor racing.
Although contemporary and photographed digitally, the aim was to create a look that was sympathetic to the period without trying to emulate photographs that were taken fifty of sixty years ago or even longer. Through the application of blurring, grain, texture and muted colour I aim to create an evocative, nostalgic range of designs.
